LIMA - Peruvian President Ollanta Humala on Sunday visited the Andean region affected by an earthquake that killed eight people, including four children.
The 5.1-magnitude earthquake occurred at 9:35 pm local time (0235 GMT) on Saturday in Cusco, Paruro province.
Humala and a group of ministers flew to Misca community, one of the most affected regions, to inspect the situation there and evaluate the possibility of declaring a state of emergency.
In Misca, eight people were killed and six others injured. Four people are missing, while more than 60 rural houses collapsed and some 300 people became homeless.
