Bus accident death toll in Turkey up to 15

ANKARA - At least 15 workers were killed and 28 others injured in a traffic accident in southwestern Turkey on Friday, private Dogan news agency reported.

A minibus carrying workers, who worked in an apple garden at Balkonak village in Yalvac town of Istarta province, turned over, killing at least 15 and injuring 28 others, according to the report.

The minibus carried 43 people in total, including 18 people standing, thus contributing to the rise of casualties, local CNNTurk broadcaster reported.

Report also said that the seriously wounded workers were taken to a state hospital for treatment. According the initial reports, the accident is due to driver fault.

Ambulances and rescue crews were dispatched to the scene and an investigation into the accident was underway.

At least eight students from Suleyman Demirel University were killed and 19 others injured on Saturday as a passenger bus fell off from a 15-meter cliff near Karamik village of Cay town in Afyonkarahisar province in central Turkey due to heavy rain, private Dogan news agency reported.
