British couple arrested on suspicion of Syria-related 'terror offences'

LONDON - A couple from Walsall, in central England, has been arrested on suspicion of Syria-related "terrorism offences," local police said Wednesday.

The West Midlands Police on Wednesday said the couple were detained on Tuesday evening at Heathrow Airport by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit.

The man, 20, and the women, 19, were seized after they got off a flight from Istanbul.

Police said there was no risk to the safety of the flight last night, and the two are now in custody in the West Midlands area.
