MIHTARLAM, Afghanistan - Two Afghan anti-government militants were killed as their explosive device exploded prematurely in the country's eastern Laghman province on Thursday, said a statement released by the provincial government.
"Two armed militants were planting mine on a road in Alingar district Thursday morning targeting security personnel, while the device went off prematurely killing both on the spot," said the statement.
Taliban militants, who are much relying on suicide and roadside bombings in their fight against the government, are yet to make comment on the incident.
