5:31 am

Satellites picked up electronic pulses from flight MH370 after it disappeared on March 8. The signals gave no information about where the jet was headed and little about its condition, sources close to the investigation told Reuters on Thursday.

Chinese experts say seismic movements in the Malaysia-Vietnam maritime border area occurred at 2:55:06 am local time on March 8, an hour and a half after the last contact with flight MH370.

Chinese teams had searched 69,000 square kilometers as of 12 am on Thursday, but no firm clues were found, according to China Maritime Search and Rescue Center.

Vietnam said it had downgraded, not stopped, its search for the missing jetliner in the South China Sea and has been asked by Malaysian authorities to consider sending planes and ships to the Strait of Malacca.
