PHNOM PENH-- Cambodia has detained three foreign tourists for producing naked photos in the complex of the famed Angkor Archeological Park, a spokeswoman confirmed Monday.
The three young adults are a Dutch woman, an Italian man and an Argentine man, said Chao Sunkeriya, spokeswoman for the Apsara National Authority, the government entity managing the ancient site.
"They were detained on Sunday afternoon by the heritage protection police while they were taking pornographic photographs at Ta Prohm temple in the complex of the Angkor Archeological Park," she told Xinhua over telephone. "The temple is a worship site and their debauched behavior is wrong."
It was the third incident so far this year. In February, two American sisters were arrested for taking nude photos at the site and then deported, and in January, three French male tourists were deported for taking their nude photos at the temple.
Angkor Archeological Park, inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1992, is the kingdom's most popular tourist destination. It is located in Siem Reap province, some 315 km northwest of capital Phnom Penh.
The site received 2.35 million foreign tourists last year, according to the government's figures.
