NAY PYI TAW - Chairman of Myanmar's ruling party, the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), U Shwe Mann was removed Thursday, according to the party sources.
U Shwe Mann was replaced by Vice Chairman U Htay Oo, who is assigned to take up the post of chairman concurrently, according to a decision of the party's central executive committee.
U Htay Oo, an MP to the House of Representatives, was former Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation with a military rank of major-general during the previous military government and became vice chairman of the party in 2012.
Meanwhile, USDP General Secretary U Maung Maung Thein was also removed and was substituted by U Tin Naing Thein, who was former Minister at the President's Office and just resigned on Wednesday for entering the election.
The CEC committee was reformed with 47 members.
