A preparation meeting for the 2015 World Internet Conference, Dec 16-18, in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province, was held in the city on Nov 10, with Lu Wei, director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, and Li Qiang, governor of Zhejiang, delivering speeches.
Lu spoke highly of the changes Wuzhen has experienced during the past year, especially its success in attracting the WIC. The Internet has become an indispensible part of the city, which is delightful, Lu added.
As the opening of the event approaches, all parties should strengthen communication and coordination, and strictly carry out the overall plan. Lu stressed that the organization committee should work harder to make the event a wonderful success.
Li said that the fact that Wuzhen was chosen as the permanent site for the WIC shows the central government’s confidence in Zhejiang, and is an opportunity for development of the province. He urged all involved departments to vigorously carry out the preparation work. By relying on the successful experience of the first session of the WIC and similar conferences around the world, this year’s conference will be able to offer more highlights and well-planned programs to further improve the image and global influence of the event.
Deputy director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, Ren Xianliang, Zhuang Rongwen, and Zhejiang provincial official, Ge Huijun, participated in the preparation meeting.
