Li Shufu, chairman of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, differentiated the automaker's autonomous car strategy from that of Google.
Li, attending the World Internet Conference, said on Thursday that automakers and dotcom companies target different markets in self-driving technology.
"What Google and other Internet firms do mainly aims at making profit online, but automakers like Geely have a different business model," said Li.
"Geely is not clingy to online business model because it can sell cars. It can also make money through relative services."
