Cartoon commentary, Xi's APEC summit②: Conveying China's confidence and philosophy to APEC

On November 18, Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the 23rd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting and delivered a keynote speech at the APEC CEO Summit.

Xi stressed that the Asia-Pacific economies should push ahead on reform and innovation, building an open economy, implementing the Development Agenda, promoting connectivity and global economic growth.

He highlighted the current economic growth situation in China, 13th Five-year Plan (2016-20) and a five-element development philosophy of innovation, coordination, green, open and sharing. He said, the "Belt and Road" Initiative is gaining momentum. Many major multilateral and bilateral projects are moving forward steadily.

China is the engine of the Asia-Pacific economy. Asia-Pacific Development relies on China's development, which has been the consensus of the world for years.

The world economy and Asia-Pacific economy are facing a complicated situation. Xi's address in Manila brought confidence to APEC.

China's economy grew at 6.9% in the first three quarters of the year. Beijing will significantly relax foreign access restrictions. The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is expected to get established by the end of the year. The good news is a reassurance to the world.

"Even the shortest journey can't be finished without taking the first step. Even the most trivial task can't be completed without taking action," Xi said, quoting an old Chinese saying.

As long as countries of the Asia-Pacific work together, hold win-win cooperation and a sense of community of destiny, to resolve differences through dialogue, the Pacific region will become a bridge of cooperation, a friendly link, and a common home for the Asia-Pacific.
