Chinese FM meets Pakistani ex-president

Comments Print Mail Large Medium SmallISLAMABAD - Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Asif Ali Zardari, former Pakistani president andco-chairperson of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on Friday.
Speaking highly of Zardari's contributions to China-Pakistan friendship, Wang said the bilateral strategic cooperativepartnership is the result of efforts of generations of leaders ofboth sides.
Various parties of Pakistan, including the PPP, have madepositive contributions to bilateral friendly relations, hesaid.
China highly values its friendly relationship with the PPP, andis willing to carry out party-to-party exchanges with the party,the foreign minister said, adding it is hoped and believed that thePPP will continue to be a staunch supporter of China-Pakistanfriendship.
For his part, Zardari vowed that his party will continue tovigorously push forward the development of Pakistan-China ties.
China has provided great help to Pakistan and has played asignificant role in promoting economic development of its neighborsand maintaining regional peace, the ex-president said.
