NEW DELHI - Britain's Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton arrived in Mumbai Sunday on a seven-day tour of India and Bhutan.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge landed at Mumbai airport from London around noon and straight headed to the Taj Palace Hotel where they paid homage to the victims of the 2008 Mumbai massacre.
The second-in-line to the British throne and his better half later went to a cricket ground to watch a game between beneficiaries and representatives of three charities.
In the evening, the Royal couple will attend a gala dinner where captains of the industries and Bollywood stars will be present, officials said.
Prince William will wrap up his Mumbai tour and head to Delhi.
They are also slated to visit the iconic Taj Mahal, some 250 km from the national capital, a monument visited by Prince William's mother late Princess Diana more than 24 years ago.
"Twenty four years on from her visit to the Taj, The Duke and The Duchess are looking forward to seeing this beautiful place for themselves and creating some new memories," a release said.
During their India tour, the couple will also visit the Kaziranga National Park in the northeastern state of Assam, before flying to Bhutan.
