7.2-magnitude quake hits 147km NNE of Gisborne, New Zealand

An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale jolted 147km NNE of Gisborne, New Zealand at 16:38:02 GMT on Thursday,the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 159.1 km, was initially determined to be at 37.503 degrees south latitude and 178.848 degrees east longitude.
