BEIJING - Tree-planting is usually seen as a significant way to symbolize long lasting friendship between two countries during leaders' visits to foreign countries.
Since he took office, President Xi Jinping has earthed up trees of friendship together with leaders of the destination countries in at least seven cities across the world, signifying the friendship and cooperation between China and these countries will be deeper and more prosperous in the future.
During his three-day state visit to the Czech Republic, President Xi Jinping and his Czech counterpart Milos Zeman joined hands to plant a ginkgo sapling, which was brought from China as a gift for the Czech Republic, at Lany Chateau, the official summer residence for the Czech president outside Prague.
Xi said that ginkgo, a symbol of long-lasting friendship in Chinese culture, signifies the friendly ties between the two countries.
