CAIRO -- On the eve of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Egypt, his book, "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China," was presented Tuesday at a China-themed book promotion event in Cairo.
"I believe by reading this book, you can have better knowledge of President Xi's new ideas, new thoughts and new strategies on governing the country, better understand the dreams and pursuits of the Chinese nation, better grasp the determination and direction of China's reform and development, and see China's relationship with the world more clearly," said Jiang Jianguo, minister of the State Council Information Office of China, at the promotion event.
The book, currently available in multiple languages including Chinese, English, French, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Japanese, has been a hit in the international book market since its debut.
Its worldwide sales of 5.3 million copies also set a new record for global circulation of books ever written by a Chinese leader since 1978 when reform and opening up was initiated in China.
The book includes Xi's speeches, informal talks, interactions with journalists between November 2012 and June 2014.
Other books promoted at the week-long event, mostly in Arabic, include "The China Wave: Rise of a Civilizational State," "The Three-Body Problem" and "One Belt and One Road."
