Kungfu to be performed in Bangkok's Lumphini Park to celebrate Chinese new year
BANGKOK - A mega event with Chinese Kungfu, acrobatic performances and Chinese food is to be held in Bangkok's Lumphini Park from Jan 25 to Jan 29 to celebrate the upcoming Chinese new year.
According to Chinese Embassy in Bangkok, the opening ceremony of the event will be held on at 17:00 local time in the park.
Chinese Ministry of Culture has assigned more than 100 performers from 6 provinces of China and 20 famous Chinese chefs to attend the event, giving Thais and visitors joining in the event a chance to enjoy Chinese dance, musical, Kungfu, acrobatic performances, puppet shows and delicious Chinese food.
The event is organized by Chinese Ministry of Culture, Chinese Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sports and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
"Thailand is known as the host of the biggest celebration of the Lunar New Year outside China. By putting in a touch of Thainess, we want to ensure that Thailand's celebrations to mark the Chinese New Year will be unique and memorable for local and international tourists." Said Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT's governor.
He also said that 2017 marks the 42nd year of Sino-Thai diplomatic relations as well as the 13th anniversary of cooperation between TAT and the Chinese Ministry of Culture in co-hosting the Chinese New Year celebrations here.
According to TAT, the event is part of this year's Tourism Festival, and they have decorated a zone of total 10 zones in the park as a China town for people to learn about the different Sino-Thai traditions of the various Chinese communities across the kingdom.
Celebrations can also be found in various provinces of Thailand, such as Nakhon Sawan, Udon Thani, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket and Ayutthaya.
