Paintings by Hong Ling will be on display at the Museum of East Asian Art on Bennett Street, Bath, between Saturday and July 2. Most paintings are landscapes rich in traditional Chinese techniques.
Academics mulling growing challenges of urbanization
The London School of Economics is presenting Urbanization in China-Patterns and Governance on Wednesday in the Hong Kong Theatre, Clement House, Aldwych, London. Stephan Feuchtwang, Athar Hussain, Kent Deng and Jude Howell, academics from LSE, and Wu Fulong, a professor from University College London, will describe how China's urban population is growing by 20 million people a year and talk about resulting challenges.
Portrayal of Chinese culture in movies to be scrutinized
The way in which movies portray Chinese culture will be explored in The Cultural Politics of Chinese Cinema: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon on Wednesday. The discussion is presented by the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology as part of the University of Liverpool's Chinese studies module Projecting China: An Introduction to Chinese History and Cinema, and will be led by Leon Rocha.
Hong Kong to host giant pet food, accessories fair
The 2017 Hong Kong Pet Show opens on Friday. It will showcase pet food and accessories. The event will also feature cat and dog shows as well as classes and contests. Major players in the pet and veterinary industry are expected to participate. The show closes on Sunday.
