US secretary of state visits Thailand

BANGKOK - Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and visiting US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson agreed on Tuesday to enhance bilateral cooperation on security and economy.

Tillerson, the highest level US official visiting Thailand since 2014, met with Prayut and his Thai counterpart Don Pramudwinai.

The two countries agreed to have more cooperation on military, security, counter-terrorism and extremism and also trade and investment.

Tillerson arrived here Tuesday after attending a series of ASEAN and related foreign ministers' meetings in the Philippines.
