LONDON (Xinhua) -- Islamic State said the group carried out the bombing at Parsons Green underground station in west London on Friday, Sky News reported quoting Amaq News Agency.

The explosion, caused by the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED), took place during morning rush hour on Friday at Parsons Green Station.

British Prime Minister Theresa May has said an improvised explosive device that exploded on a packed Tube train was intended to cause significant harm, according to Sky News.

The prime minister condemned the "cowardly" terror attack at Parsons Green station, which left 29 people injured by far, most with burn injuries.

According to previous local media reports, the identity of the suspect has been found with the help of surveillance footage.

May also said the British terror threat level would stay at "severe" rather than raising it to "critical," although this would be kept under review.

The Friday blast came after four deadly attacks in London this year.
