China's movie industry is getting a talent boost with a recent program jointly launched by University of Southern California's School of Cinema Arts and the Beijing-based movie firm Luminous Pictures.
Under the program, talented Chinese will go to Hollywood to polish up their knowledge and skills.
There, Chinese participants will join a three-month training course run by veteran Hollywood producers and scriptwriters at the school, the oldest and largest such institution in the United States.
Graduates from the school include filmmakers such as George Lucas and John Wayne.
Elizabeth M. Daley, the dean of the school, says the program will focus on on-set training to provide the Chinese with practical experience in Hollywood.
Huang Wei-che, the founder of Luminous Pictures, says the program will give Chinese filmmakers opportunities to work with Hollywood veterans.
