The ongoing Young Artists Nomination Exhibition is a commission of the National Art Museum of China to showcase the latest developments of up-and-coming Chinese art talents.

On show at the Beijing museum are more than 100 Chinese ink-brush paintings, oil works, sculptures, watercolors and calligraphic pieces created by 26 artists from across the country. It continues through May 9.

Most of the show's artists are in their 30s and 40s, and they have been featured in many national and international exhibitions.

Wu Weishan, the museum director, says the variety of their styles and approaches to creating is grounded on the country's widening openness over the past three decades.
