Singing Along the Way, a series of forums aimed at promoting communication among Chinese cities along the ancient Silk Road, has kicked off in Beijing.
Initiated by the National Language Arts Education Committee, the forum will mainly focus on spreading traditional Chinese culture, including calligraphy and music to young Chinese. It will cover Chinese cities including Xi’an in Shaanxi province, Lanzhou in Gansu province and Xiamen in Fujian province in the next three to five years.
According to Feng Weiling from the National Language Arts Education Committee, the forum will introduce the history and culture of the local city along with economic benefits.
"We also want the young generation to know more about our own culture, such as local architecture, folk arts and history," says Feng.
