The Ministry of Education denied Tuesday that the math questions for the entrance exam of postgraduate studies were leaked, after receiving a report the same day on the possible leakage.

Some netizens published posts on the Chinese micro blog Sina Weibo, saying the questions shown by a teacher at a training course were quite similar to the questions on the math test, with only some figures being changed Tuesday.

According to the ministry, it carried out investigations immediately and ordered exam centers to organize experts to check the videos, screenshots and PDF materials relating to the possible leak.

It said on its official Sina Weibo that experts confirmed that the questions shown in the videos were different from those in the math exam. All the teachers mentioned in the videos did not participate in the math exam preparation work.

An official with the ministry’s exam center said that any interference in the national exams will be dealt with seriously and no tolerance will be given.

According to the three hour-long videos, the teacher, Li Lin, gave a lecture on math questions to students in a classroom bearing the logo of the training website zhongshikaoyan.com.

Li’s information could be found at the training website, saying Li was a teacher with years of experience, engaged in teaching and training students for taking the postgraduate exam.

Li is a teacher at the Dalian University of Technology where, according to the university’s official website, he has taught for the School of Mathematical Sciences.

“I’ve been giving math lectures on postgraduate entrance exams since 2005,” said Li on his Sina Weibo account. “Although the Ministry of Education and university have issued regulations prohibiting such activities, I still took a chance to give lectures without permission.”

“I’m so sorry for the bad influence that I had on the university,” he said, adding that he never participated in any math exam preparation for the postgraduate entrance exams.

Li’s videos have been deleted from the training website. He has hired a lawyer to handle the accusation. Further statements will be revealed on his Sina Weibo.
