Zhu Xiaoyan, cultural counselor for the Chinese Embassy in Peru, said at the event that Peru, as an important country on the ancient Maritime Silk Road, has a long-standing friendship with China.

Since the first group of 75 Chinese workers arrived in this country back in 1849, the number of Chinese in Peru has exceeded 3 million, accounting for nearly one-tenth of the country's population.

For a long time, the Chinese community in Peru has played a major role in promoting the Peruvian social and economic development.
