South China's Guangdong province promises to spare no efforts to develop its 4K ultrahigh definition video industry in the years to come.

Ma Xingrui, governor of Guangdong province, said the 4K ultrahigh definition video industry represents the development and consumption trend of the electronic information industry and the network technology and information sector.

"And Guangdong, the window of China's reform and opening-up drive, will seize the opportunities to speed up development of the 4K ultrahigh definition video industry to upgrade Guangdong's industrial structures," Ma said.

Ma made his remarks Thursday at a conference on the development of China's 4K ultrahigh definition video industry in the Guangdong provincial capital of Guangzhou.

He said his government attaches great importance to the development of the 4K ultrahigh definition video industry and is seeking to attract more special talent, technologies and funds as well as high-tech projects to develop its 4K ultrahigh definition video industry.

Ma urged the building of Guangdong into a new focal point for China's 4K ultrahigh definition video industry in the following years.

To this end, relevant government departments and companies from Guangdong province signed seven cooperation deals during the conference involving the 4K ultrahigh definition video industry. The deals involve the joint construction of a number of industrial parks, research and development centers, and projects in Guangdong.

Nie Chenxi, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and head of the State Administration of Radio and Television, said Guangdong has become a vanguard and pilot region for the country's development of the 4K ultrahigh definition video industry.

"Guangdong's successful experiences will help further boost the production of 4K programs and the development and innovation of technologies nationwide," Nie said.

Nie's administration has signed a memorandum of cooperation to jointly promote the development, popularization and application of the 4K ultrahigh definition video industry in 2017.

And Luo Wen, deputy minister of Industry and Information Technology, said his ministry supports the innovation and application of the 4K ultrahigh definition video industry in Guangdong province.

In addition to government officials and experts, CEOs and senior business executives from major companies involved in the 4K ultrahigh definition video industry -- including Huawei, Tencent and TCL -- attended the conference.
