Royole Corporation, a manufacturer of flexible displays and smart devices, announced mass production of Quasi-Generation Six fully flexible displays in Shenzhen, Guangdong province on Wednesday.
The company stated the facility is the first of its kind, and a 100 percent self-designed R&D and manufacturing facility with over 1,800 independent intellectual property rights.
The firm says it adopts an innovative technology approach instead of following mainstream technologies in foreign countries. The name "Quasi-G6" is to highlight its differences from traditional methods.
The facility has turned out its first production batch of fully flexible displays on Monday and built partnerships across multiple industries to continually introduce new products to both B2B and B2C channels.
Founded by Stanford engineering graduates in 2012, the startup started construction on the factory in 2015. Its production will exceed 50 million flexible display units at full capacity each year.
Royole attracted global attention in 2014 when it rolled out the world's thinnest full-color AMOLED flexible display screen, which can be bent or rolled.
