8.1-magnitude quake hits Fiji islands: CENC

SUVA - A 8.1-magnitude earthquake hit the Fiji islands area at 8:19 a.m. Sunday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The epicenter, with a depth of 570 km, was monitored at about 18.08 degrees south latitude and 178.06 degrees west longitude, the center said in a statement.
The center initially said it was a 8.3-magnitude quake based on preliminary measurement.
