The vehicles will operate within the Fifth Ring Road, and to more-distant communities with large numbers of frequent passengers, including Huilongguan, Tiantongyuan and Tongzhou district.
"The price will be lower than the taxis at the station," said Hong Shiyun, deputy director of Beijing Public Transport. "In the future, we will expand the pickup and delivery service to more stations and communities in the capital to meet passenger demand."
A passenger surnamed Cui ordered a 6:20 pm bus from Beijing South to his home.
"It's quite cozy and comfortable when I am on the bus," he said. "It provides a new option for me and in future I will recommend this to more friends."
