AI set to make big inroads into education sector

Artificial intelligence is slowly entering every part of our lives, and a recent meeting discussed how AI will reshape the education industry.

The meeting was the Science of Intelligence and Learning Revolution International Summit Conference, held in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, on Nov 19 and 20.And around 300 scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs and officials discussed how AI will reshape the education industry.

Wang Yuan, the vice-president of NetEase, says AI can help teachers and parents to better and more quickly tutor their children, while Wu Fei, the vice-president of the College of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University, says that AI will become a pivotal part of the education industry in the future.

Wu estimated that many Chinese universities will launch undergraduate majors for AI next year, as 38 colleges have reportedly handed in such applications to the Ministry of Education as of July 20.
