Michelle Bowman sworn in as member of the board of governors of US Fed

WASHINGTON -- The US Federal Reserve (Fed) announced on Monday that Michelle W. Bowman took the oath of office as a member of the Board of Governors (Board) of the Fed.

On November 15, 2018, the United States Senate confirmed Bowman to an unexpired term as a Board member, ending on January 31, 2020.

Before she was appointed to the Board, Bowman was a state bank commissioner of Kansas from January 2017 to November 2018. She also served as vice president of a bank in Kansas from 2010 to 2017, said the Fed.

In addition to her experience in banking, Bowman served as a counsel to the US House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the US House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Bowman also served at the executive branch such as the United States Department of Homeland Security. She served as deputy assistant secretary and policy advisor to Secretary of Homeland Security from 2003 to 2004, according to the Fed.

Bowman received a Bachelor of Science degree in advertising and journalism from the University of Kansas and a Juris Doctor degree, a professional degree in law, from the Washburn University School of Law.
