Paper installations
Jennifer Wen Ma's ongoing solo show at Tang Contemporary Art Beijing showcases the artist's works created since 2009, and covers installations, ink paintings and videos. The show, entitled Cry Joy Park-Fold, which runs until Dec 15, features a white garden and a black garden with paper sculptures, to explore issues such as the inequality in wealth. It also features a glass wall showcasing videos inspired by the artist's iconic "installation" opera, Paradise Interrupted, an 80-minute show that was staged at the 2016 Lincoln Center Festival.
The 45-year-old artist, who is also a designer and a director, integrates elements from different genres-including performance art, fashion design, films, paintings and technology-into her works. She was once a key member in the design team involved in the Beijing Olympic Games' opening and closing ceremonies.
