"It is the infinite singularity, the reverie derives from the darkness. Since then time started passing, and everything in the world has risen from chaos. The world spreads out brilliance, as everything has the original brightness."

Zhao Lihong, who is a contemporary poet, depicts poems of legend, as in Nuwa Mended the Sky, and transforms them into beautiful songs. These songs appear in Creation of the World: Chinese Myth and Music Epic, which premiered in Shanghai on Friday.

This musical epic was the brainchild of the Shanghai Writers' Association and was produced by the Shanghai Light Music Troupe. It tells classical Chinese myths in music.

Twenty original songs and poems were sung and recited by choirs, which consists of more than 100 people. Creation of the World: Chinese Myth and Music Epic shows the great spirit of the ancients in ancient China that they dared to fight against nature and create the world. It also presents a 90-minute musical feast for the audience.

According to Chu Baojie, head of the Shanghai Light Music Troupe, it took nearly two years for its founding team to put Creation of the World: Chinese Myth and Music Epic on the stage. To match the perfect presentation of the concert, Zhao Lihong, Zhang Ye, Yang Xiuli, Xu Fang and other well-known poets polished the poems repeatedly, and finally completed the revision of the lyrics and recitation of the text. Zhang Haining and Gan Shijia elaborately created theme songs. Professional artist Song Huaiqiang and famous pianist and conductor Xu Zhong joined the team, serving as narrator and conductor respectively.

To give the myth an "international language", the founding team invited Simon Franklin, who is a famous British music producer, to compose the music. Simon has worked with Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and other well-known singers, and produced the classic My Heart Will Go On for the film Titanic.

In addition, the concert also uses the world's leading "four-dimensional holographic" vocal technology to create sound content in the fields of sampling recording, sound reinforcing and so on.

Chu Baojie revealed that the Creation of the World: Chinese Myth and Music Epic plans to go abroad to show the Chinese nation's will for pursuing dreams to the world, so that more people can experience the charm of Chinese culture hidden in the myth.
