Peruvian vice-president: Happy Spring Festival to Chinese people

Peruvian Vice-President Mercedes Araoz Fernandez sent her Lunar New Year greetings to the Chinese people in a video message as Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year, draws near.

"I wish you the best for this new lunar Chinese New Year, full of prosperity, peace, happiness and health," she said.

In a letter to Jai Guide, the Chinese ambassador to Peru, she praised the contributions of Chinese immigrants in Peru, as 2019 also marks the 170th anniversary of Chinese immigration to the South American country.

She noted that economic and trade cooperation between China and Peru has been further enhanced under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and that the two countries will work together to deepen the comprehensive strategic relationship.
