A fixed-wing aircraft specializing in aviation medical rescue departed from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport on Monday morning, taking three Taiwan residents injured in a traffic accident in Shanghai back to Taipei and Kaohsiung for further medical care, Xinhuanet.com reported.
A traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Xujiahui Road and Dapu Road in Shanghai’s downtown Huangpu district on the morning of Feb 3. Ten people, nine of whom are tourists from Taiwan, were injured.
One tourist died after being sent to hospital for medical treatment. Five others were discharged from hospital that same day.
The Shanghai municipal-level and district-level governments have attached great importance to the handling of the accident and an emergency medical team was set up at Ruijin Hospital, which is affiliated to the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.
