China established a national veterans service center in Beijing that officially started operation on Tuesday. It aims to better deal with the affairs of veterans and safeguard their welfare.

According to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, the establishment of the national veterans service center is a significant part of the service and security system for veterans.

The center's main responsibilities are providing employment and business startup support for veterans, providing them with preferential assistance and aid, dealing with their petition letters and visits, as well as safeguarding their rights and interests. The service center shows the authority's care and concern for veterans, and is expected to enhance veterans' sense of honor, belonging and gain.

Before the establishment of the service center, some local areas had already established local veterans service organizations to handle the affairs of veterans, which have accumulated some experience.

According to officials of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, before the end of May China will establish a service and security system for veterans that covers various local levels from province to villages and communities.
