Former Party official Li Rui passes away

BEIJING -- Li Rui, a former member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Advisory Commission and former deputy chief of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, died of illness in Beijing on Feb 16 at the age of 102, said an official statement Thursday.
During his illness and after his death, leaders of the CPC Central Committee extended condolence in different ways, the statement said.
Li, formerly named Li Housheng, was born in April 1917 in central China's Hunan Province, and joined the CPC in February 1937.
He was a member of the 12th CPC Central Committee and elected to the CPC Central Advisory Commission in 1985.
