Kenyans working for Chinese businesses embark on trip to China

"I have been working at CRBC as a site technical manager and never thought I would get such an opportunity. I'm grateful that the company has recognized my devotion to work," he said.
Syengo said he was happy to have contributed to the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway, Kenya's largest infrastructure development.
"I'm proud of our joint achievements and believe the SGR will enable Kenya's development to take off. I wish to use this opportunity to explore the world's most populous country and the world's largest market," he said.
Alfred Mitei, who works at Lamu Port, said he was happy to get an opportunity to travel to China.
Mitei said he was particularly eager to see and also learn about developed infrastructure in China.
Joseph Gitau, who works at China Communications Construction Company, said he was looking forward to learning a lot from China.
"We will learn about China, as well as meet our colleagues who work in China and exchange ideas with them," he said.
Francis Okumu who has been working with CRBC for the last 20 years, said he was happy to be honored to travel to China.
"We will have an opportunity to learn Chinese culture and traditions, which we will share with our colleagues once we come back. The understanding will enable us to co-exist as we work together," he said.
According to a 2016 World Bank Report, Chinese businesses in Kenya on average employed 360 locals , more than the average 147 locals employed by other foreign enterprises in Kenya.
