6.1-magnitude earthquake strikes off Solomon Islands

SYDNEY - An earthquake measuring 6.1 magnitude struck in waters 145 km northeast off Buala, Solomon Islands on Friday, according to the US Geological Survey.
The earthquake was initially determined to be at 6.935 degrees south latitude and 160.116 degrees east longitude at a depth of 10 km.
No tsunami warning was issued for the region at this time.
