China's courier giants post robust growth

BEIJING - China's courier giants Yunda, STO Express, YTO Express and SF Holding reported higher business income in May with the continued momentum for e-commerce growth, latest data showed.

Yunda Holding Co, a major Chinese express delivery firm, saw its revenue up 186.8 percent year-on-year to reach 2.76 billion yuan ($402.3 million) in May, according to the company's latest bulletin.

The company, with its courier business volume up 43 percent from a year ago, attributed the expansion to the lasting boom of the e-commerce sector as well as the improvement of its courier services, according to Shanghai Securities News.

STO Express reported a 47.53-percent year-on-year growth in its courier business volume, which drove its express service revenue up 44.24 percent.

In May, YTO Express raked in 2.17 billion yuan in its courier service, up 12.93 percent year-on-year. The company carried 718 million parcels, a 28.2-percent increase compared to the same period last year.

SF Holding saw its courier business revenue up 12.54 percent year-on-year to about 8.1 billion yuan in May, with its business volume up 10.19 percent to 346 million parcels, the company's monthly report showed.
