Two German fighter jets collide in air, pilots eject

BERLIN -- Two Eurofighters of the German air force collided in air on Monday in north Germany's state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The pilots abandoned the jets with ejection seats, local media reported.
The German Ministry of Defense was quoted by the German Press Agency (DPA) as saying that a pilot was found alive, and the search for the second one is still underway.
According to the radio station Ostseewelle that reported the incident firstly, the crash took place over the Mueritz region. The two fighter jets collided shortly before 2:00 pm local time in the air, then two fireballs fell to the ground north of the Fleesensee. Forest fires on site were also reported.
The fire brigades and rescue workers of the region are in a large-scale operation.
