A 24.54-million-yuan lottery prize has gone unclaimed in Zhongshan, Guangdong province as no one has come forward to claim this enormous sum of money before the deadline, reports The Paper.

On May 2, China Welfare Lottery announced that someone had won its 24.54 million yuan (about $3.57 million) jackpot. The winner, who bought the ticket on May 1, had about two months, or until July 1, to collect the prize money before the ticket expires.

The local lottery welfare authorities had been trying to inform the winner to claim the prize since early June, yet nobody showed up to claim the money before the deadline.

It's the second biggest unclaimed lottery prize money in China.

The unclaimed winnings will be used as public welfare funds.
