BEIJING -- Zhao Hongshun, former deputy director of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, has been indicted for taking bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said Monday.
Zhao's case was handed over to the procuratorate of Huai'an in East China's Jiangsu province for review and prosecution upon the designation of the SPP after the National Supervisory Commission concluded the investigation, it said.
Zhao will stand trial in the Huai'an Municipal Intermediate People's Court, it added.
Prosecutors accused Zhao of taking advantage of his former positions to seek benefits for others and accepting vast amounts of money and gifts in return.
The prosecutors informed Zhao of his litigation rights, interrogated the defendant and listened to his defense counsel's opinions, the SPP said.
