Shenzhen has announced it will offer 35 land plots covering 30 square kilometers for industrial development, as the southern metropolis moves to attract more outstanding enterprises and projects to push forward growth.

Of the area, 25 square kilometers are within the city and the other 5 are in the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone.

"Any enterprise or project that meets Shenzhen's industrial policies and its high-quality development requirements will be guaranteed sufficient space for development," Nie Xinping, head of the Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission, said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Nie said the municipal government took out a 30 square kilometer area of land because it hopes more outstanding enterprises will participate in Shenzhen's development, grow with the city and enjoy development opportunities brought by the building of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and pilot demonstration area.

Of the 35 plots, nine are larger than 1 square kilometer, with the largest covering 4.8 square kilometers.

They will be used to develop large innovation carriers, emerging industries and optimize industrial chains.

Shenzhen, known as China's "Silicon Valley", is stepping up efforts to enhance its capability in original innovation. To this end, it aims to build mega technological infrastructure at an advanced international level, including a comprehensive national science center, a national laboratory and Nobel Prize laboratory.

In this aspect of industrial development, the city is focused on new-generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, green industry, bio-medicine, digital economy, new material and the maritime economy. Enterprises and projects related to 5G mobile telecommunication, 8K ultra high definition video, integrated circuits and artificial intelligence will also be welcome.

The city will hold a global investment promotion event in mid-December, during which it will unveil more detailed policies in industrial development and information on the plots.
