The finals of the fourth National Petroleum Geology Competition wrapped up at China University of Petroleum on Nov 3 with contestants giving their oral presentation themed on structural geology, reservoir evaluation, processing and interpretation and other aspects of petroleum geology.
Over 200 teams from more than a dozen universities including CUP, Northwestern University and Northeast Petroleum University were asked to work out a solution for certain practical matters in the field using data collected from actual oil fields. And 73 of them successfully made the entry to the finals.
The event aims to set up a platform where domestic petroleum geology learners can attend competitions and forums, display their research works and listen to lectures delivered by academicians.
"To some extent, the competition was launched to better develop engineering disciplines, and fuel cooperation between enterprises and universities as well as the integration of industry and education," Wu Xiaolin, vice-president of CUP, said.
