Why China is a role model for the world

By Misbahul Ferdous | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2019-11-11 13:39

Over the past 70 years, China has leapt from a poor and underdeveloped country to the second-largest economy in the world. Its achievements have amazed the world and the country will continue its prosperity, making contributions to people all over the world.

China's strong planning for development, economic growth, health, social security, and the Belt and Road Initiative projects made one of the greatest examples for developing countries. Find out why China is overwhelming for eight reasons.

China in space

China is the first country to launch a spacecraft on the far side of the moon, which has never been seen from Earth. China's fourth moon probe, the Chang'e-4 lander, which arrived on the far side of the moon on Jan. 2, 2019, is currently creating a great deal of excitement. It is the first spacecraft to ever land on the moon's space-facing hemisphere. The robot touched down at 177.6 degrees east longitude and 45.5 degrees south in the Von Kármán crater, according to an announcement from the China National Space Administration.

This is considered a great achievement for China's space program. China launched its space station program in 2011. That year, they launched a station called Tiangong-one. Tiangong means the palace of heaven. China succeeded in destroying a satellite orbiting a spacecraft in space in 2007. Before them, only the United States and Russia had that capability. The privacy and security of information are very important in cyberspace. In this regard, China achieved great success in 2016.

China's artificial intelligence
In addition to traditional technology, Beijing has become competitive in AI. The use of artificial intelligence has begun in manufacturing factories in about 20 provinces of the country. Last year, 1,500 new factories started based on AI. Last year, $10 billion was traded in these industries. That could lead to $9 trillion in 2021. The cost is being spent on research. Approximately $300 billion was spent on AI research in 2018, 10 percent more than a year previous.

Solar power generation

China is changing the profile of energy in the world. Solar power generation in the country is about 130 GW. The world's largest solar power project is also located in China. The power generation capacity of this power plant in the Tenzert Desert is 1500 MW. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), about 60 percent of the world's solar panels are made in China.

China in the production of agricultural products

China has been the largest producer of green products for 2,000 years. At present, China's agricultural production is about 22 percent of the world's population. However, the amount of land used in agricultural production in the country is seven percent of the total cultivable land in the world. The country is at the top for producing various agricultural products including rice, wheat, potatoes, tomatoes, sorghum, millet, nuts, tea, barley, cotton, oilseeds, soybeans.

5G technology
As a doctor I used 5G technology last month in Fuwai Hospital for a live conference with Bangladesh Radial, where we delivered a live heart operation from China to Bangladesh.

The internet speed was outstanding and beyond the imagination. I hope 5G technology will be popular in other countries as well.

China is leading the electric vehicle market

The demand for environmentally friendly electric vehicles is increasing worldwide due to global warming. China is on the top level in the global electric car market, with sales of nearly 12 million electric cars last year. Neil Atkinson, head of the International Energy Agency's Oil Markets and Industry Department, cited this information in an article at Columbia University's World Energy Policy Center's Oil 2019: Analysis and Forecast to 2024.

China's alternative fuel policy is helping to expand the electric truck and bus sectors. China also manufactures electric taxis and supply cars.

China reduces gender inequality
Women and men is equally needed for development. And for that, China is focusing on reducing gender inequality. However, they are moving a little slower to reduce gender discrimination. In a survey in 2018, gender discrimination was ranked 103rd among 149 countries. However, they are trying to combat gender discrimination.

China to promote tourism
China will be the most popular country in the world in terms of tourism. China will be the most popular holiday destination, according to a new study by Euromonitor International. The study says the rate of inbound and outbound tourist arrivals will increase in different parts of China by the year 2020. China will overtake France as the world's number one tourist destination by 2030. China recorded a record 4.7 billion tourist arrivals in 2018. By 2023, it will increase by 42.5 percent to 6.7 billion.

China's current leadership is pushing the economy toward high-quality overall growth. China is like a miracle country, not only economically but also technologically. It's a role model around the world.
