6.1-magnitude earthquake hits northern Thailand

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit northern Thailand 6:50 am local time on Thursday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The quake, which occurred at 2350 GMT Wednesday, was centered 31 km southeast of Chaloem Phra Kiat with a depth of 10.0 km, according to the USGS.
