China, Kenya explore more cooperation avenues as third expo kicks off
While highlighting the strategic importance of Kenya as a participant of the Belt and Road Initiative and the gateway for Chinese enterprises into Africa, Irene Nyong'a, a senior staff member at the Kenya's Ministry of Industry, Trade & Cooperatives, reiterated the importance of the China-Kenya Expo in implementing the achievements of the 2018 FOCAC Summit, and promoting economic cooperation between China and Kenya, as well as building a bridge of connectivity between China and Africa.
"We thank the organizers for including a China-Kenya job fair that will provide a platform for Kenyan youth to interact with potential employers and will provide business matchmaking sessions on infrastructure, agriculture and agro-processing, ICT, transportation and the automobile, as well as machinery," Nyong'a said.
The China-Africa expo has been held annually since 2017 in Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia, with more than 200 Chinese taking part. The organizers say plans are underway to include Rwanda in the 2020 series.
