NATO Leaders Meeting will be held in London, 2019 UN climate change conference will start, Judiciary Committee set to take over Trump impeachment probe and leaders from countries in South America's Mercosur trade bloc will meet.

These are the international events under the spotlight for the week starting Dec 2.

The 2019 UN climate change conference (COP25) will start in Madrid on Dec 2.

Chile had earlier canceled hosting the COP25 as anti-government protests roiled major cities. Spain then offered to hold the event in Madrid from Dec 2 to 13.

The annual UN climate conference aims to tackle outstanding issues around the Paris Agreement to limit a rise in global temperatures to between 1.5 and 2 degrees Celsius.

As current pledges under the agreement will not be enough to curb temperature rises and easily overshoot the 2C limit, countries have agreed to present more ambitious commitments by 2020 and every five years after that.
