In July, the provincial government listed 52 vocational qualification certifications awarded in Taiwan that can be also recognized in Fujian province, and they include architect, civil engineer, and agronomist.

"The vocational qualification system in the mainland is different from Taiwan, but if we could reach mutual recognition on the technical titles, we can attract more Taiwan compatriots to Fujian to start business and pursue better development," said Tang Jiajia, an official of Pingtan city government.

According to the provincial human resource department, Taiwan employees awarded with the technical certificates can apply for management position and get better salary. They can even apply for the talent allowance from Pingtan city government.

"In next step we will explore and improve the cross-Straits talent exchange mechanism so as to accelerate the integration of the mutual development," said Tang.
