LONDON -- A 51-year-old man was named Monday night as the driver wanted by British police after a 12-year-old boy was killed and five others injured when a car collided with children outside a school in Essex in southeast England.

Terry Glover is thought to have been involved in a "deliberate" crash, Chief Superintendent Tracey Harman of Essex Police said.

Speaking at a press conference outside Loughton police station, she said, "We believe the collision was deliberate and as such we have launched a murder investigation."

Essex Police are appealing for help to find a silver Ford KA with the registration number LS08 OKW.

The hit-and-run crash took place at about 1520 GMT after a car mounted a pavement near Debden Park High School in Loughton, Essex.

After the accident, the boy was taken to hospital, where he later died. Two 15-year-old boys, one 13-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl and a 53-year-old woman were hurt but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, the police said.
